Engineering for a Sustainable FutureEngineering a better future will require the best work of researchers collaborating along the spectrum from the tiniest building blocks of materials through the complex workings of entire societal systems. We work at the micro- and nano-scale in fields like heat transfer, catalysis and 2-D materials to identify fundamental properties of matter. Our goal is not simply to conduct research, but to pursue research with positive global impact.

Gaurav Giri
Assistant ProfessorProf. Giri graduated from Chemical Engineering at Stanford University, working on the crystallization control of organic semiconductors for flexible electronic applications. His postdoctoral work focused on the use of microfluidics and continuous flow processing for pharmaceutical industry.

Ihlefeld is a Professor in the Materials Science and Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering Departments at the University of Virginia. He is the Deputy Vice-President for Ferroelectrics for the IEEE. His group studies the process-structure-property relations in ferroelectric, dielectric, and ion-conducting oxides.
