Application Process
The Advanced Materials Synthesis Research Experience supports future materials scientists and engineers who are at home in the communities they serve.
The application process for summer 2024 will open beginning November 15, 2023 and close on February 23, 2024.
We encourage students from populations underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to explore our research areas and consider applying!
Eligible candidates will be rising sophmores through seniors who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have successfully completed one year of a STEM-based curriculum. Additionally, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Applicants are asked to submit an essay conveying their desire to learn about and engage in materials research and what they hope to achieve through their participation in the research experience. Applicants are also asked to submit letters of recommendation attesting to their work ethic, curiousity and drive to learn.
