UVA Engineering undergraduate students in Madhur Behl's CS4501 course showed off the results of their work this semester during the 2023 UVA F1tenth Autonomous Racing Grand Prix.
Eight teams of students spent the semster building and programming one-tenth scale autonomous race cars. The teams squared off in time trials and head-to-head battles in the UVA Link Lab arena during exam week, with the winning team earning a trophy (and bragging rights).
Behl, an associate professor of computer science and systems and information engineering who also leads the Cavalier Autonomous Racing Team, hosts the event each year as a way for students in the course to show what they have learned about the principles of perception, planning and control for autonomous driving throughout the semester.
